A+ or MTA?
To me, A plus is the ground work for everything. It may not help you with networking components but sooner or later you will refer back to the knowledge gained by it

I agree that you might want to skip ahead and get the MCSA, but if you're looking for a quicker, easier cert to start with, I would go with Aplus. It will get more recognition by HR.
